The cash-in-transit company Brink’s Nederland will be taken over by the German firm Wincor Nixdorf.

According to their press release on Tuesday 16 June 2015, Wincor Nixdorf wants to merge Brink’s Nederland with their subsidiary SecurCash. “Our activities can complement and reinforce one another”, said both companies in their joint statement. Brink’s Nederland has been struggling with the increased competition, especially from Geldservice Nederland (GSN), a joint venture of ABN Amro, ING and Rabobank.

Despite of a re-organization of the firm, the competition has been so fierce that it led to hundreds of job losses. With the merger, only 550 instead of the initially expected 650 employees are losing their job. “This deal offers better future prospects for Brink’s”, said union leader Meinert Gorter.
