More and more organizations are making use of flexible contracts . This while workers overwhelmingly prefer a permanent according the research by ECORYS , which the Minister of Social Affairs Lodewijk Asscher has sent to the to the Parliament. In his letter Asscher indicates that the Bill Work and Safety corresponds with the results of the research .
The last two years in all the sectors made extensive use of flexible contracts for new hires. Also in the next two years approximately ½ of all companies are planning to make even more use of flexible contracts, this according to the Contract Research and motives of employers and employees research.

Contract

The ‘popular’ contact forms differ sector and by size . In the construction and media sectors the most often used for is the self-employed/ freelance contract. On the sectors like medical care – short term contracts became very common. Temporary secondment has become very popular in the agricultural sector, transport and logistics. In the majority it’s a the big size companies that prefer to work with flexible staff (temporary workers , freelancers and secondments ) according the minister’s letter.

Employment conditions are unclear
Also, the study shows that for the employees with direct contract with the company the employment conditions are quite clear. The employees with a flexible employment forms, especially payrollers often have no clue what their right are and which employment conditions imply for them

Permanent contract
The survey shows that many workers are forced chose a flexible contract. People are actually looking for a permanent positions and security . Further analysis allows the minister to ensure that individuals with permanent work are more satisfied with their work and their contract form than others also due to the fact that the employees with permanent contract are offered more often a chance for schooling/ courses, extra education possibilities.
Work and Safety Bill
This research proves the necessity of changes to the Work and Security Bill in order to provide employees with flexible contracts with more security before promoting them to a permanent contract . let’s hope it will happen soon.
