Crowds of expatriate job seekers attended Expatica's latest edition of the Job Fair on Sunday 2 October in Amsterdam.

Once again the beautiful Beurs van Berlage, Amsterdam provided the ideal location for the "i am not a tourist" Job Fair for Internationals. Held alongside the Expat Fair, crowds of people from various parts of the globe were welcomed to a new life and career in the Netherlands.

With the late arrival of Autumn, attendees were keen to seek shelter from the rain at the informative and engaging exhibitor stands and presentations. English and multilingual speakers were welcomed by a wide range of friendly and professional exhibitors, providing information on current vacancies and on the job market. Event sponsors such as UWVE EURES, DutchNews, SharkTalent, Projob, easyJet, YER Technology and Murata provided visitors with the chance to discuss their search criteria one-on-one.

Recruitment agencies, employment professionals and business' currently seeking new candidates provided internationals with detailed information regarding current vacancies, and the chance to explore new opportunities. Large audiences attended various presentations, including ‘How to apply with your CV the Dutch way’ by Saskia Stuve & Els Brouwer (ProJob), ‘IT Market & The Netherlands, where to go?' by YER IT, and ‘How to prepare for a job interview in the Netherlands' by Semir Muric (Undutchables).
The fair acted succesfully as a diverse platform of information to attendees from various fields, whether new to the employment ladder or reaching the final step. Fair visitors were able to provide recruiters with a digital copy of their CV with ease and were given access to specialised presentations.

“The Job Fair for Internationals is a great team effort. The recruiters, service providers, and sponsors all work hard to make this event a positive experience for everyone. Successfully connecting skilled candidates with exciting companies is a job well done.”

EURES, exhibitor and sponsor comment: "The atmosphere was relaxed. We were very busy at our stand and met good candidates."

Members of the Expatica team were present at a central exhibition stand throughout the day, providing expats with an opportunity to learn more about the services Expatica's website offers to those living in the Netherlands and ten other countries/locations. Expatica also welcomed questions regarding the event itself and the exhibitors and recruiters present.

Visitors reported that they were pleased to meet the Expatica team and to hear about the other services Expatica offer alongside employment, such as Housing and Healthcare information, Education and Dating for expats.

With a good range of exhibitors attending the event, job seekers were able to gain a wide range of information regarding the current job market. When purchasing a ticket online for the event, visitors were given the opportunity to provide exhibitors and recruiters with further information about their working history, current skills and abilities. With past events resulting in several success stories of individuals finding employment, the seventh edition looked promising!

For an expat moving to the Netherlands, getting the right direction is very important. It's important that one knows which steps and direction to take. Linda is an exceptionally talent counselor, her advice has helped me land a job within a week of coming to the Netherlands. I am grateful for her mentoring and look forward to a great working relationship in the future.

Together Abroad provided expert advice on personal branding including developing a top-notch, market-aware CV, highly tailored job applications, and approach strategies with potential employers in the Netherlands. Furthermore, I found them be highly knowledgeable in key related fields such as recruitment strategy, immigration law, contracts, labor agreements, and (un)employment benefits. I would recommend Together Abroad to anyone who needs professional help with transitioning to a new career.

Linda is a big mind. She thinks about things that the rest normally overlook. The insight she has about the dutch job market can only be achieved through years of experience and persistence.

Her business savvy is complemented by her mastery of understanding the client's needs and requirements. For my career I could say, she was the “Mary Poppins”, who guided me through thick and thin and helped me to land a career in the Netherlands

If you are going to enlist the services of a "Career Coach" look no further. The only person you want in your corner is Linda van Orsouw. As an expat, you absolutely want to work with a highly skilled and knowledgeable professional who knows their way around the Dutch career/employment/job market. Linda assisted me in writing and positioning my CV, helped me organize and prioritize my list of opportunities, coached me through mock interviews and was there when I got offered a senior position only 2 months later. When asked I will only refer to Linda and "Togetherabroad".
