
This was made clear from a statement from the European statistics agency 'Eurostat' last Friday.
Unemployment in the European Union fell last month to 10.8 percent of the workforce, compared with 10.9 percent in August. In September 2014 the unemployment rate was 11.5 percent over the entire Euro-zone.
The lowest unemployment rate was measured in Germany, where only 4.5 percent of the workforce is unemployed. The Netherlands currently has an unemployment rate of 6.8 percent.
In Greece and Spain, the situation on the labour market is still by far the worst, but the unemployment rate since last year have fallen. In Spain, the unemployment rate fell last month to 21.6 percent, compared to 24 percent a year earlier. In Greece a quarter of the total workforce is unemployed, compared with 26 percent in the summer of 2014.
