This is according to figures from Certiq, the subsidiary electricity transmission operator which issues certificates for energy generated from solar, wind, water and biomass.
Green energy is managed by Certificates of Origin (Certificaten van Oorsprong, CVOs) issued by energy companies, which show where it is generated. More and more people want to know where their green power comes from.
More than half of the coming green electricity used in The Netherlands from hydropower in Norway, Sweden, and France. Dutch green electricity is generated mainly in biomass power plants and wind farms, which together accounts for a quarter of Dutch demand.
According Certiq, the only CvOs that The Netherlands may issue, totals about 12.5 percent of certified green electricity in 2015. That amounts to a total of 42.6 terawatts every hours of green electricity.
