Big Nerd Ranch will grow its renowned software development, teaching and corporate consulting business from a new Amsterdam headquarters. Its offerings will be backed by the strong brand known globally for its Nerds, their technical knowledge and teaching talent, and their monastic-retreat style of training.

Reaching for European business
Big Nerd Ranch announced it is opening its first international office to serve growing demand for its technical training and consulting services. Initially, the office will be staffed by five Nerds, with current projections forecasting that the team will double in size within a year.

Big Nerd Ranch
Big Nerd Ranch is a U.S.-based training and consulting company known globally for its immersive courses on app development and best-selling series of books, the Big Nerd Ranch Guides. Its consulting division develops the apps and software that drive business for corporate clients.
‘I have watched demand for training and consulting build in the European market for several years, and now is the right time for us to expand our presence with a full-time office,’ explained Aaron Hillegass, who founded the Atlanta-based Big Nerd Ranch in 2001. ‘The Amsterdam community was the ideal place, with an enviable quality of life, a strong corporate presence and a convenient international airport for our students and Nerds.’

International quality ICT in Amsterdam
From the Amsterdam-based office, Big Nerd Ranch will offer a full schedule of its monastic retreat style of bootcamps and classes to immerse students in learning from the best technical minds in the business. Classes will include Beginning iOS Bootcamp, Advanced iOS Bootcamp and Android Bootcamps.

ICT hub
Amsterdam has embraced Big Nerd Ranch, as it cements its reputation as the global hub of app development and innovation. Dieter Oude Kotte, Senior Manager Foreign Investments of amsterdam inbusiness noted: ‘The City of Amsterdam is excited that Big Nerd Ranch has chosen Amsterdam to set up their European Headquarters. It contributes to an even higher knowledge and professional level of the growing international developers’ community in our region. The Internet took off at a very early stage in this area and has given the region a cutting edge. The Amsterdam Internet Exchange (AMS-IX) is still the largest exchange in connected networks worldwide. The Netherlands has the most active Twitter, Linkedin and Yammmer users and is the 4th capital in the world where ideas for apps are born and developed,’ he continued. ‘It’s a breeding place where ideas can flourish into business.’
