How can I find jobs that are not advertised?

Here are a couple of strategies you could employ while doing job searches which increasing the possibilities that you get hired ahead of any other applicant.

  1. Networking
    Stay tuned in the companies you are interested in and be the one who would be invited for unposted activities. Networking is a added value of your quality that increase your chance of being hired and also bring more potential values from aspects you may not expected. Therefore, there needs to be a habit of networking. Join a “meet-up” (app) team would be a good start for developing more employment opportunities. Sometimes you may utilise the chance of face-to-face conversations to ask “who else should I be talking to?” to win more contacts and at the same time get the right person to answer your enquires. 
  2. Reaching out what you are offering: talking to contacts and friends about what positions you are looking for and the fields you are interested in. Then send emails to remind them of the time and discussions you had. Keep your routine of reaching the employers: follow up articles that you consider which might be helpful to them and create genuine bondings rather than asking for favours.
  3. Join a professional group: your fellows who are also looking for opportunities. It is highly suggested to consult or participate in job-search companies for professional suggestions. Those connections have more understanding about your concerns and conditions; they may have more potentials resources as what you are looking for. At the same time, they are willing to share since you may be more suitable for some opportunities and hence they would share with you.
  4. Contact managers: smart leaders are always interested in meeting youngsters of experts who are able to help them get more profits or simply save their budgets by doing so. Therefore, just figure out who they are and set up Google alerts to keep updated about the latest news in the industry. Then you get the first chance to drop your employer an email for providing professional support. Tell them you are the staff they need either now or future.
  5. Attend a conference: trade show events and industry association activities are where managers socialize and build up new connection. These are the ideal occasions for these opportunities that are not posted yet and they are looking for the staff soon. Though the entry tickets might be very expensive, applying for a conference volunteer would be a good choice. This is also welcomed by the organisers and save your budget for transportation. Join in a professional forum at least once a year is essential to maintain the network and the latest trend in your industry.
