Siemens confirms the mass dismissal of 7,800 employees worldwide. In Germany, about 3,300 jobs will disappear..
It is about 2 percent of the total workforce. In late September a total of approximately 357,000 people worked in the corporation.

A spokesman for Siemens Netherlands can not say whether layoffs are going to fall in the Netherlands , where about 2,800 people work for the company.

The mass resignation should yield savings of 1 billion euros. Siemens wants to invest the savings in innovation, productivity and growth.

The management is consulting with the representatives of the employees in Germany. Siemens aims to prevent redundancies as previously agreed with the unions.

Divisions

Siemens presented last year a restructuring plan for the huge company. The number of divisions were to be reduced from sixteen to nine. According to the plan a great deal of management layers should disappear. The restructuring must be completed by 201,.

Siemens does not expect the total number of employees to be decrease through the layoffs. In the last four months, the conglomerate took on board more than 11,000 people , including 1,500 in Germany.
