Quarter of EU part-timers desire more work

Approximately, a quarter of 44 million part-timers in the European Union (EU) last year wanted to work more hours than they actually did.

The European statistics agency Eurostat (Europese statistiekbureau Eurostat) stated that the 10 million part-timers would like more work – they represented 4.5% of the total workers in the EU, of which, two-thirds consisted of women.

The demand for additional work for part-timers in the Netherlands is the least in comparison to all the EU countries. Only 4% of part-time workers wished for more hours. The Netherlands is by far the leading part-time worker supplier in the region.

According to NU.nl, the highest demand for more hours in the EU was in Greece (72.1%), Cyprus (65.9%) and Spain (57.3%).
