The unemployment rate in the European Union (28 countries) in September was 10.1%, which was at its lowest level since February 2012. In July, the unemployment rate was 10.2% and in August 2013, it was 10.8%. Austria and Germany have the lowest unemployment rate at 4.7% and 4.9%, respectively. Greece and Spain have the highest unemployment rates at 27% and 24.4&, respectively. The Netherlands has a 6.6% unemployment rate, well below the average.
