Greater job growth expected

The authority on welfare distribution UWV expects that 102 thousand workers will find employment in The Netherlands during 2016. This presents an increase of 1.3 percent, though if you included the number of independent jobs, we'd be seeing 129 thousand vacancies filled this year.

Minister Asscher is pleased with the numbers. “We'll see that, in time, employment follows in line with the growth of the economy. This is now confirmed,” he said. "That means there are more opportunities for anyone looking for a job.”

The improving economy also ensures that more jobs will be created. There are probably 859 thousand created this year. That is 49 thousand more than last year and about one-third more than during the previous height in 2013. The growing number of vacancies is a challenge for HR, as it is unknown how this will effect their ability to get the best candidates and how they can keep talent within their companies.
