The proportion of employees that worried about maintaining their jobs has decreased in all industries between 2013 and 2016, as shown by the Central Bureau of Statistics and Research Institute TNO. According to organizations, unemployment is declining, the number of vacancies increasing, and there are fewer reorganizations and reductions.
A Decline in Construction and Care
Three years ago, the concern reached 34%, the highest level since the beginning of the crisis. But last year, 24% of 15-65 year-olds in paid employment were worried about the future of the labor market. Especially in the construction sector, worries decreased sharply from 39% to 22%. There was also a sharp drop in care.
Concerns about job retention are the most common for employees of financial institutions such as banks and insurers. Relatively many workers in the sectors like transport and storage, and information and communication, are not feeling assured. In the hospitality, education, agriculture and fisheries industries, employees have relatively few worries.
However, we are not back at the old level yet. Before the crisis, only 16% of employees were worried about their job.
