Minimum Salaries Per 1st of July 2017

The age for the adult minimum wage goes down on July 1, 2017 from 23 to 22 years. The minimum weekly wage for 18- to 21-year-olds goes up. These are the minimum wages per 1 July 2017.

The legal minimum wage (WML) for employees aged 22 years and over in full employment will be € 1,565.40 per month, € 361.25 per week and € 72.25 per day per July 1, 2017.

Minimum Youth Wage

The age for the adult minimum wage goes down on July 1, 2017 from 23 to 22 years. The minimum weekly wage for 18- to 21-year-olds goes up. As of July 1, 2017, the amounts below are per month for a full week of work. These amounts are excluding holiday allownaces.

15 years: € 469.60 per month
16 years: € 540.05 per month
17 years: € 618.35 per month
18 years: € 743.55 per month
19 years: € 860.95 per month
20 years: € 1,095.80 per month
21 years: € 1,330.60 per month
22 years and older: € 1,565.40 per month


For employees of 22 years of age (and from 1 July 2019 from 21 years of age and older), who are now earning the adult minimum wage, there applies the low-income benefit. To qualify for the low-income benefit, the employee must have worked at the employer for at least 1248 hours per calendar year and earn between 100 and 125 percent of the minimum wage.

Exceptions

The increased minimum wage for 18- to 20- year-olds does not apply if a MBO graduate (middle-level applied education) has a work placement as part of the Professional Guided Learning Path (bbl). These employees maintain the current minimum weekly wage. If the MBO graduate is 21 or 22 years old, he will receive the corresponding minimum wage.
