PostNL invites freelance delivery staff to join the company

PostNL is offering all its freelance parcel staff to become company employees. Alternatively, if they choose to remain independent, they will receive a salary increase of about 10%.

“By making this offer, PostNL is taking an important step towards a social and competitive delivery model. The offer is also groundbreaking in the parcels market. And it creates clarity for all our parcel deliverers,” said Yme Pasma, the company’s director for packages, in their official press statement released on Monday 13 July 2015. This offer, agreed with the FNV union, was voted by the freelance parcel staff in favour of the offer in two meetings and against in a third meeting.

PostNL will negotiate this matter with the freelance staff in the near term. The company emphasizes “there will be no difference in costs between independent parcel deliverers and PostNL employees“ with this offer.
