Minimum wage to be increased in 2015

The Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment has announced that the gross minimum wage and minimum wage for employees under 23 years of age will be slightly increased from 1 January 2015.

The minimum wage will increase by 0.44% from 1 January in comparison to the minimum wage established on 1 July 2014. The minimum wage for full-time employment applies to employees of all ages from 23 years to retirement age. The gross minimum wage is proportionally lower for employees who work part-time.

According to the Minimum Wage and Minimum Holiday Allowance law, the gross statutory minimum wage based on 40 working hours as of 1 January 2015 will be:

Per month: € 1,501.80
Per week : € 346.55
Per day: € 69.31


Statutory minimum wage:
Employees younger than 23 years of age are entitled to a fixed percentage of the gross statutory minimum wage

22 years: € 1,276.55 per month (staff percentage rate:85%)
21 years: € 1,088.80 per month (staff percentage rate:72.5%)
20 years: € 923.60 per month (staff percentage rate:61.5%)
19 years: € 788.45 per month (staff percentage rate:52.5%)
18 years: € 683.30 per month (staff percentage rate:45.5%)
17 years: € 593.20 per month (staff percentage rate:39.5%)
16 years: € 518.10 (staff percentage rate:34.5%)
15 years: € 450.55 (staff percentage rate:30%)

Minimum hourly wage:
The gross minimum wage depends on the number of hours per week. For an employee who is 23 years or older, the minimum gross hourly wage per 1 January 2015 is as follows:

36 hour week: € 9.63
38 hour week: € 9.12
40 hour week: € 8.66
