The salary processor Raet, which comes up first with the numbers on wages for the next year, has indicated. People with a minimum wage will have the most significant improvement:
• Minimum wage: + 2.2% (net salary in 2017: 1409.93 Euros).
• Moderate: +1.08% increase (net salary in 2017: 2156.08 Euros).
• 1.5 times the average income: +1.20% (net salary in 2017: 2882, - Euro).
• 2 times the average income: + 1.26% (net salary in 2017: 3600.25 Euros).
After Prinsjesdag (Budget day) the Tweedekamer (Second Chamber) made a new policy: they considered different points, like the general tax credit and the earned income, so that everyone’s salary would be improved. After this, Raet calculated how much everyone would receive on average in the next year.
Low Wages
A little wage increase - from the companies point of view- cannot hurt the Netherlands, several economists are concluding. De Nederlandsche Bank also sees space for wage increases in various industries, for example in the hospitality industry and transportation.
Earlier this yearDNB boss Klaas Knot called on companies to stimulate the economy by not limiting salary increases to the current rate, with very low inflation. Higher salaries imply a stronger purchasing power of employees, who can therefore spend more.
