Unilever shifts European marketing to Rotterdam

Leading FMCG-manufacturer Unilever brings regional brand developers from 11 different European locations to Rotterdam – the home of its new European Marketing and Innovation Powerhouse.

All of Unilever’s European marketing activities, worth an impressive €13bn, will be managed out of the company’s new marketing and innovation HQ, located at Unilever’s Weena office in central Rotterdam.

The new facility will see Unilever’s top regional brand development talents move from many different locations around Europe, to Rotterdam. This represents approximately 400 high level jobs, seeing several hundred highly qualified professionals relocating to the city.

In a statement Unilever said: "Unilever needs a more agile, efficient and integrated brand development business to ensure our continued and consistent success. Our new brand development and innovation hub in Rotterdam will reflect the size and scope of our €13 billion European business and further support our considerable growth ambitions."

The first group of more than a hundred marketing professionals will arrive around the beginning of July. The remainder will follow over the course of the year.

The Expatdesk of the Rotterdam Investment Agency has been working hard to ensure that registration at the gemeentelijke basisadministratie (GBA) and the formalities with the IND (collection of EU requirements or residency permits) go swiftly and smoothly.

We have negotiated effective arrangements with all parties involved: Unilever; Crown Relocations; Fragomen; and the Publiekszaken service.

The new residents of Rotterdam can expect a red carpet welcome from us to ensure they very quickly feel at home here.

For an expat moving to the Netherlands, getting the right direction is very important. It's important that one knows which steps and direction to take. Linda is an exceptionally talent counselor, her advice has helped me land a job within a week of coming to the Netherlands. I am grateful for her mentoring and look forward to a great working relationship in the future.

Together Abroad provided expert advice on personal branding including developing a top-notch, market-aware CV, highly tailored job applications, and approach strategies with potential employers in the Netherlands. Furthermore, I found them be highly knowledgeable in key related fields such as recruitment strategy, immigration law, contracts, labor agreements, and (un)employment benefits. I would recommend Together Abroad to anyone who needs professional help with transitioning to a new career.

Linda is a big mind. She thinks about things that the rest normally overlook. The insight she has about the dutch job market can only be achieved through years of experience and persistence.

Her business savvy is complemented by her mastery of understanding the client's needs and requirements. For my career I could say, she was the “Mary Poppins”, who guided me through thick and thin and helped me to land a career in the Netherlands
