WHAT IS YOUR BACKGROUND IN RELOCATION?
I have worked in the relocation industry since 1996. I started on the household moving side and then realized there was much more to a move then shipping furniture. From there I started to work closely together with local Dutch relocation companies. After that I set up European relocation management in 27 European countries together with ARM in Asia. In 2003, we became Global Relocation Services (GRS), which has locations in 90 countries around the world.
WHAT ARE YOUR AREAS OF EXPERTISE AND INTEREST?
I have broad interests, but I think one of my areas of expertise is communication. I love building bridges between people and cultures – and between HR and their partners to ensure more successful transfers. All of us need to practice clear communications and expectation management. I am also good at finding solutions to the international challenges that our customers experience. I like thinking outside of the box solve all sorts of different puzzles that our offices and clients face on a daily basis.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT WORKING IN THE RELOCATION INDUSTRY?
I love international work and learning about the different cultures that people bring to the table. It’s also very fulfilling to find ways to help our customer save money, while still providing the relocation services that they need to be effective in their new environment. It’s our job to reduce stress levels for HR, the employee and the service provider, which is meaningful work to me. Also, just like every family is different, so is every relocation. It keeps me on my toes!
WHAT DO YOU DO FOR FUN?
I am an active member of my church and am involved with the woman’s organization there. I also enjoy traveling and spending time with my friends and family.
