This was shown through a research on Wednesday by Randstad Werkmonitor (Randstad Work Monitor), held by SSI under 810 workers.
It was stated that nearly three-quarters of the workforce spends his/her holiday days not specifically on vacation. 57% of this group use this day for remodelling or renovation. The rest of the workers spend their time taking care of relatives.
In addition, almost a quarter of the Dutch workforce prefers to receive the extra holiday pay on a monthly basis.
General director Reiant Mulder from Randstad Netherlands stated that: "Holidays and holiday pay are important conditions for workers; therefore it is logical that they would like to decide what they want to do with it. Simultaneously, I questioned the want to exchange number of holidays for money. Workers should not underestimate a resting period. "
69% of workers want to determine the length of the vacation itself and on a the other hand, a third of workers say they need at least three weeks’ vacation to relax.
