For the first time in ten years, the average retirement age has not increased. Last year the average age was 64 years and 5 months, just like in 2015.

Earlier this century, the average retirement age was much lower at 61 years. Through several new laws and regulations, the retirement age rose steadily and the most was in 2007. The systematic increase in the retirement age has played a major role, writes CBS. This was introduced from January 1, 2013.

Fisheries and Agriculture Retire as the Last

In 2006 the largest number of employees that retired were 60 years old (over 20,000). As of 2011, the largest group consists of 65-year-olds. That group grew to 31,000 in 2016. The number of 66-year-olds, which has grown has become more common since 2014, is now the second largest group.

Last year, employees in public administration, government, education and care, on average, had the earliest retirement age: 63 years and 7 months. In agriculture and fisheries, on the other hand, was the latest retirement, at the average age of 67 years.
