
Fewer Allowances
The number of unemployment insurance benefits declined in February. The UWV returned to 416,000 persons last month, a decrease of 0.7% compared to January. This decline was mainly on account of women, with a drop of 1.3%. It is also reflected in the sectors where women work a lot. In education (-2.8%) and in the care and welfare sector (-1.9%), the number of benefits fell sharply.
Youngsters Most Often Unemployed
Young people between 15 and 24 years are still thelargest group at home. Within this group 9,7% do not have a job. The risk of unemployment is lowest for those aged between 25 and 44. Only 4% of them are not in this group. 45- to 74-year-olds are doing slightly less well with an unemployment rate of 4.9%.
