Shell attracts ex-military staff

Shell will start hiring redundant military staff from next month onwards
On Wednesday afternoon, the energy group and Ministry of Defence will sign a covenant on the matter which will run from 2 April 2013 until 31 March 2014. The agreements made may be extended each time by a period of one year, should both parties be in agreement. Shell is specifically looking for staff for logistic posts, maintenance workers, operators and staff for the contracts & procurement department. “We know that military workers have useful competences and qualities to work for Shell”.

Cooperation

“Cooperation, flexibility, service orientated work and security awareness are prime examples. Joining forces seems logical”, according to Shell Personnel Manager for the Benelux and France, Jules Croonen. He sees plenty opportunities to hire (ex) military staff, for among other places, factories in Pernis and Moerdijk. Shell and the Ministry of Defence will meet monthly to discuss relevant vacancies. According to lieutenant-general Willem van de Water, the Ministry of Defence is quite satisfied with the collaboration, “for now and maybe for the future too”. Last year, Shell Holland hired 690 new employees, of whom 484 have a technical background.
