Business bankruptcies on lowest level since 2008

Business bankruptcy files in the Netherlands dropped in May 2015 to their lowest level since November 2008. A total of 370 organizations shut their doors last month, 84 less than in April.

These figures were reported by CBS on Friday 05 June 2015. Most bankruptcies were filed by the financial institutions, namely 88. In trade, the number of bankruptcies dropped by 46 to 59. Trade and financial services are also sectors with the most companies. Considering the number of firms engaged in the fields, transport and storage make for sectors with a relatively large amount of business failures.

The three-month average stood at 490 in May versus 526 in April, i.e. the lowest level in more than three years.
