Smart HBO students are back in demand on the Dutch labour market. This means that graduates will be able to more easily start a career and will increase the demand for HR professionals. This is evident from the annual Global Salary Survey conducted by the recruitment consultancy Robert Walters.

Graduates are looking towards other opportunities, among which are jobs in logistics and IT, marketing, finance, sales and marketing. The main reason for the shift is the space on the labour market. The number of jobs has increased by 13 percent and there is more confidence among employees in their own abilities.

According to Rob Entertainment, Managing Director Benelux of Robert Walters, the increasing scarcity on the labour market helps those looking for a career. The effect of this is increasing the number of HBO applications again. “Companies in recent years had the luxury to recruit horizontal switchers, so those with exactly the right level of education, experience, and salary. Now, as a business, you need to accept people for their potency and not just skills.”

According to the Global Salary Survey, Dutch companies have bet heavily on study and development, work-life balance and flexibility to bring in talented employees and retain them. As a direct result, the demand for HR professionals who can strengthen the recruitment process in the coming years take flight.
