Rising bonus payments in the Netherlands

In 2013, 13 billion euros of bonuses were paid in the Netherlands, which indicates an increase of 14% compared to the previous year. This increase applied to all industries, of which the hospitality sector experienced the lowest, and the oil and gas industry the most significant rise of bonus payments.

This was reported by Centraal Bureau voor de Statistiek (CBS) on 13 March 2015. Accordingly, for the working year of 2013, employees were paid an average remuneration of 2,260 euros.

Furthermore, CBS determined that employees with high annual revenue are more often provided with monetary gifts based on their achievements. About half of the employees with a fixed income higher than 100,000 euros received extra incentive payment of 5,000 euros or more. 60% of employees with fixed revenue higher than 200,000 euros received 20,000 euros or more.
