You probably think of Martkplaats as a location for used cars or furniture, but you may soon find your new job there. The company wants to compete with job sites.

Marktplaats is currently very busy working on this. Over the last ten months, the number of vacancies rose to 44,000 from 2000, which is an increase of 2100%.

The Knife Cuts on Two Sides

The company connects an online recruitment system to its own site and expects that it will be able to offer thousands of new vacancies a month. According to manager Wouter Geerlings of Marktplaats, the knife cuts on two sides. Because Marktplaats attracts over 8 million unique visitors per month, it also offers opportunities to recruiters.

People are already looking for people through the site, especially for driver and courier services, and cleaning jobs requiring low or medium-level of education.

Finding Jobs Goes Beyond Job Site

In the largest staffing company in the Netherlands, Randstad, they notice for some time that many sites have been posting job opportunities. “Marktplaats is another place for all jobs already out there”, said a spokeswoman.

According to Randstad, it should not be so much about quantity, but quality: “In particular, one relevant job must be found”. And there, her company offers all the help you do not get on many job sites. “You will not look at what you can do, you will not get any job tips, no advice if this is a good step for your career and no information where you can ask for the salary”, she says, as she opposes the disadvantages of the competition. “It is nice if you find that one job, but you often need some more help”.

For an expat moving to the Netherlands, getting the right direction is very important. It's important that one knows which steps and direction to take. Linda is an exceptionally talent counselor, her advice has helped me land a job within a week of coming to the Netherlands. I am grateful for her mentoring and look forward to a great working relationship in the future.

Together Abroad provided expert advice on personal branding including developing a top-notch, market-aware CV, highly tailored job applications, and approach strategies with potential employers in the Netherlands. Furthermore, I found them be highly knowledgeable in key related fields such as recruitment strategy, immigration law, contracts, labor agreements, and (un)employment benefits. I would recommend Together Abroad to anyone who needs professional help with transitioning to a new career.

Linda is a big mind. She thinks about things that the rest normally overlook. The insight she has about the dutch job market can only be achieved through years of experience and persistence.

Her business savvy is complemented by her mastery of understanding the client's needs and requirements. For my career I could say, she was the “Mary Poppins”, who guided me through thick and thin and helped me to land a career in the Netherlands
