Self-Employed Entrepreneurs Are Most Pleased with Their Work

Self-employed entrepreneurs are most pleased with their work. 81% are pleased with the current job situation, according to statistics from the Central Bureau of Statistics on Tuesday. Self-employed people are just a little happier with their work than people with a fixed contract. 78% of them are satisfied. Having staff or not is hardly a matter of job satisfaction for an entrepreneur.

For the flexible worker, for example on-call workers, only three quarters are satisfied. However, for temporary workers there is far less satisfaction, only two out of three have no complaints.

Security

One in three employees without permanent employment claims to be in need of flexibility and not so much of security. These people are generally good at talking about their work situation. Employees who are relatively new to a company usually have peace with flex work. More than a quarter of the flex workers are in that position because it is not possible to get a fixed contract and that is why it is more important for this group. The low level of satisfaction with temporary workers has to do with that: more than half of them work through the employment agency because there is no fixed job.

More than one in ten entrepreneurs started their own business because they could not get a contract. For two-thirds of them, business is now happening.

Majority

In total, 1.8 million people in the Netherlands were employed in 2016 with a flexible employment relationship, including 279,000 temporary workers. There were 1.4 million independent entrepreneurs, three quarters of whom had no staff. Employees with a fixed contract are still the majority: there were 5.2 million in 2016.

Linda is a big mind. She thinks about things that the rest normally overlook. The insight she has about the dutch job market can only be achieved through years of experience and persistence.

Her business savvy is complemented by her mastery of understanding the client's needs and requirements. For my career I could say, she was the “Mary Poppins”, who guided me through thick and thin and helped me to land a career in the Netherlands
