From next year onwards, employers have to pay fewer premiums on unemployment funds in their sector. According to the Uitvoeringsinstituut werknemersverzekeringen (Institute for Employee Insurance, UWV) this will amount to 700 million Euros. The largest decline in premiums were in the construction sector.
The reason that there is no need for employers to pay higher premiums it is because there are fewer unemployed personnel. This allows employers to pay fewer premiums toward the sector fund, a fund designed to help unemployed members of their sector. Employers still contribute towards premium payments for the general fund. The government will decide whether this will be reduced in November.
According to the UWV, the number of recipients for unemployment benefits have decrease by about 24,000 this year. This decline is expected to continue in 2016. UWV expects that by 2016, unemployment benefit will be given to 388 thousand people. This decline is stronger than was expected earlier this year.
