There are less and less job vacancies for those with a university degree, according to a survey by job search engine Adzuna. Academics have the most chances to find a job in the province Utrecht.
From the figures of Adzuna, it looks like Academics have more difficulty finding a job compared to HBO graduates. For this study more than 200,000 jobs were analysed throughout the Netherlands. These were derived from more than 170 different sources.

       Best Chances in Utrecht

Utrecht graduates have to compete with ten other applicants for a job at their level. Graduates from HBO in this province have to compete with just one other person for each vacancy.
Anyhow, the academics still have the biggest opportunity in Utrecht to find a job at their education level. In this province 8.1% of the local jobs are aimed at potential candidates who hold a university degree. In the rest of the country, this level is at 5.7%. HBO have a much greater chance of finding a job at their education level, both nationally and in Utrecht. In Utrecht, 28.3% of vacancies are aimed forHBO graduates, and in the rest of the country, this makes up 24.2% of the vacancies.

       Difference in Salary

A university degree does offer a higher salary than a college degree. In the Netherlands, job offers regarding academic work and thinking level have a salary of 9.4% higher than that salaries for a job vacancies on HBO level. In Utrecht, this difference is a bit lower at 4.3%. In New York for example, the difference is largerat 17.4%.
For the province of Gelderland, the salary of a job at university level is on averageslightly lower than those at HBO level.
