Commerical managers, Axel Lemmens and Micha Patutschnick share with Together Abroad about WTC The Hague Business Center’s work on providing business opportunities to its tenants and investors
What are the major goals of WTC The Hague Business Center?
Our major goals are – building international business development, stimulating entrepreneurship, providing active networking and a high-quality office environment with an international allure.
As WTC The Hague has an interest in promoting international business and entrepreneurs. How is it working to attain tenants to fit with the rest of the organisations in the premise?
WTC The Hague Business Center is at the heart of the global business world and is part of an international concept. International trade promotion organisations are located within the premises. Also, there are a variety of international companies based here and it has an International Business Club (IBC). IBC brings together international and Dutch companies inside (within WTC The Hague) and outside by means of an interesting programme.
What are the various facilities offered to companies at the WTC The Hague Business Center? Flexible work areas are also available in the premises. Is this option available for non-tenants?
A company can join the WTC The Hague Business Center from € 50 per month. The contracts are very flexible and the tenant can take advantage of all the facilities that WTC has to offer such as flexible workspaces, Wi-Fi internet, use of scanners and printers, restaurant and a sports club. Secretarial service, mail service, phone and shopping services are also available. Non-tenants can also rent meeting rooms by the hour. We are fast growing and more and more international companies and start-ups are becoming members of The WTC Business Center concept.
What is the Center doing to promote networking for its clients or businesses?
WTC The Hague organises monthly content-related and social events that tenants are invited to. WTC is also the place to organise meetings and workshops. Many international business clubs therefore make use of this. We are willing to help the organisers to make a success of their event.
Could you elaborate on WTC’s Trade and Information Desk work with regards to promoting international businesses in The Hague?
In close cooperation with two of our tenants, the WestHolland Foreign Investment Agency (WFIA) and the Netherlands Council for Trade Promotion (NCH), WTC The Hague Business Center is running a Trade & Investment Information Desk.
Any questions regarding investments in the greater Hague area is handled by the WFIA. The WFIA is specialised in economic development, investment promotion and foreign direct investment, assisting and advising international companies looking to find a business location, setting up a legal entity and/or staffing their operations in the WestHolland region. Should companies require assistance regarding investments outside the greater Hague area, the WFIA can guide them towards the nationally operating Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA), which is part of the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
Trade issues are dealt with by the NCH. The NCH strives to increase business relations between the Dutch and foreign markets, with the aim of reinforcing the international position of Dutch businesses. The NCH has an international network of bilateral business councils, covering more than 30 countries. The Netherlands-African Business Council (NABC) and the Southern African-Netherlands Chamber of Commerce (SANEC) also have their offices here. Various other tenants at WTC The Hague have valuable expertise in supporting international business, such as the auditing firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). The Dutch Tax and Customs Administration also has an office here.
