Fortune Magazine:Eindhoven has what it takes to be new Silicon Valley
Listed as one of best new cities for Innovation
Eindhoven is one of the best new cities worldwide for business innovation, according to a recent article in Fortune magazine.
The magazine profiles the city’s tech region, known as “Brainport.” More than 100 companies and institutes, and 8,000 researchers, developers and entrepreneurs work in this area. Almost half of all Dutch patent applications originate there.
Eindhoven’s Brainport region also received recognition last year, when nonprofit think tank the Intelligent Community Forum named it the “World’s Smartest Region.”
San Francisco’s Silicon Valley and Eindhoven’s Brainport region are linked through the program “Brainport in the Valley,” a project that matches Dutch companies with Silicon Valley contacts.
Fortune used data from the Global Innovation Index and its own research to select a list of seven locations that mix “creativity and capitalism.”
