Dutch economy grows greener

The Dutch economy is becoming greener. Businesses have more opportunities to make money with sustainability. Moreover, the employment in the environment sector is rising faster than the overall economy. Within Europe, it remains true that The Netherlands is in the lower half of the rankings. This is because the other European countries are also advancing.

Compared to other countries we emit much nitrogen. This is mainly because of the intensive agricultural industry. Moreover, most energy still comes from fossil fuels: oil, coal and gas, reported the Central Bureau of Statistics.

In other areas, it goes well. The Dutch produce the least unrecyclible waste, at 72 kg per person per annum. It also goes better with fish stocks in the North Sea.
