According to FNV chairmain Ton Heerts, the Prime Minister Mark Rutte needs to address the abuse of EU rules on migrant workers during the Dutch presidency of the European Union. In particular Heerts referred to a case in dutch shipbuilding, where Romanian welders worked for below minimum wage.

Workers from an EU country who work in another Member State are subject to contribute to the rules of the country where they work. But there is an exception to the workers by the company from their own country to another EU country are posted.

However, legally this can be exploited and is often accompanied by “rogue practices such as evading the cao,” says the union.

Therefore, Modernising the system should be included in the so-called mobility package that the European Commission will soon roll out. This will help prevent Dutch and Romanian workers' played off against each other '' and can “help repair to damage to taxations and the leak in social security.”
