Higher amounts of investment needed towards staff training

Not all employers are providing the necessary maintenance for the knowledge bases of their employees. Only 31 percent of Dutch employees on permanent contracts have been offered the opportunity to take paid training by their employer. For temporary workers, this is 26 percent.

Employers should not only look at the permanent staff, but also towards their temporary staff. This would save additional reaction time and coordination costs between regular and temporary workers. In addition to this, these employees provide fresh ideas to the company, allowing it to conceptually expand. For temporary workers there are advantages as well. When faced with these types of challenges, temporary employees' can take the opportunity to continue their self development.

Royal A-Ware is an example of a company which works towards investing in its personnel. This is done by providing all personnel, including temporary employees, with mandatory courses. Here you can choose for formal and informal learning. “It is important to us that our employees stay with us for a long time. Too many changes in the staff can disrupt the process of production. Through training, temporary workers know what to do and we have a larger pond to fish from.”
