6 Advantages of Working in The Netherlands
Research from the Global Talent Barometer tells us that more than 2 thirds of people are currently willing to work abroad, which is a 7% increase in global mobility from 2006. We know therefore that there is a huge demand amongst global job seekers to find a job in a new country, however, with so much choice, it is not easy to decide which destination will be right for you. However, one location which we think serves as an excellent destination for international workers looking to relocate is the Netherlands. Yes, we believe there are many significant benefits of working in the Netherlands and we have described them below.

  1. Low Unemployment in the Netherlands

Thanks to its well managed economy, the Netherlands is enjoying the second lowest unemployment rate of the major European economies at 5.6%, with only Germany doing better at 5.4%. So, this means that the Netherlands is a not only a great place to find a job, it will also be a great place for you to do a job switch once you are in the Netherlands.
  2. Great travel hub
Many international workers, (particularly), those from outside Europe want to use their host destination as a base from which to explore Europe at weekends or during holidays. Working in the Netherlands will enable you to do this, because the Netherlands is well situated in central Northern Europe and has excellent land and air connections within Europe and serves as great hub from which international workers can explore Northern and Southern Europe.
  3. Good social security provisions
Although you are required to take out Health Insurance in the Netherlands, the Netherlands has good work-place social security provisions. In particular, if you are ill, the employer is obliged to continue to pay at least 70% of your wages for two years. This is another advantage of working in the Netherlands.
  4. High quality of living in the Netherlands
Amsterdam, the Netherlands, ranked 12th in the Mercer 2012 Quality of Living World -Wide City rankings, so the Netherlands has a very high standard of living. This is another good reason for working in the Netherlands.
  5.  Working in the Netherlands can be tax efficient due to the 30% ruling in the Netherlands
The 30% ruling in the Netherlands is a tax advantage for foreign workers who are working in the Netherlands. Assuming they meet the correct conditions, the employer can grant the international worker a tax free allowance of 30% of salary. This benefit is not offered by all other countries and so is a real advantage of working in the Netherlands.
  6. Employees in the Netherlands are happier than most
Yes, according to the Global Employee Engagement Index Dutch employers had above average ratings for: positive work atmosphere, employee satisfaction, role clarity, motivation and many more criteria. So, clearly a a key benefit of working in the Netherlands is that the Dutch work place is on balance more satisfying and engaging than many other work-places in Europe.
So, as you can see, there are many great reason for working in The Netherlands and so when you are choosing where to relocate for your next internal job, then the Netherlands should be at the top of your list.
