A collective labour agreement (CAO) was reached for temporary employment that will see changes to the remuneration framework in the sector.
Worker unions and the Association of Temporary Employment Agencies (Algemene Bond Uitzendondernemingen or ABU) reached an accord after laborious negotiations.
A statement released by the ABU revealed that temporary workers will receive wages based on the employment terms of the hiring company. This change will take effect from 30 March 2015. In the original 2012 CAO, this was a principe-afspraak, a non-binding agreement between the negotiating parties.
A separate salary framework will be applicable for people who have been unemployed for a long period of time or those who have difficulty finding jobs. This remuneration structure is also applicable to employees under the Participatiewet. There will also be a separate wage structure for the temporary workers that have contracts for an indefinite period of time with job placement agencies.
In addition, the unions and employers have also agreed on a wage increase of 1.8% starting from 29 December 2014.
