Kinepolis to takeover Utopolis

The Flemish cinema chain Kinepolis Group has reached an agreement in principle to takeover Utopolis Group (Utopia SA), including five in the Netherlands.

According to Euroinvestor’s report on Friday 10 July, Utopolis has 13 cinema complexes in four countries, i.e. Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Belgium and France. It welcomed 3, 4 million visitors and achieved a turnover of €41 million.

The takeover is part of Kinepolis expansion strategy as it reinforces its position in the Netherlands and France and adds a new market with Luxembourg. Relevant stakeholders will continue their efforts to comply with the associated conditions in the near term.
