Increase in number of self-employed

Over the last ten years, the number of self-employed increased with over 200 thousand.  This growth is attributed entirely to writing self-employed without staff. Their number grew to 728 thousand persons in 2011, while the number of self-employed with staff remained stable at about 350 thousand people.

Almost 1.1 million self-employed persons

The total number of self-employed persons in the workforce to 65 years took in the period of 2002-2011 867 thousand to almost 1.1 million persons.
Also under active over-65 age group, the number of self-employed persons: 28 thousand of persons in 2002 to 47 thousand in 2011.

Especially more self-employed without staff in commercial services

Frontrunner is the commercial service, where the number of self-employed without staff grew from 214 thousand persons in 2002 to 302 thousand persons in 2010. Mainly business services. In the manufacturing sector (mainly agriculture and industry) grew the number of self-employed without staff, while the number of employees declined. The number of self-employed without staff ran on from 84 thousand in 2002 to 124 k in 2010, but the number of employees decreased in the same period of over 1.4 million to over 1.2 million. Only in the agriculture, forestry and fisheries reported a decrease in the number of self-employed persons.
