In the Netherlands, equality between women and men has decreased. On a ranking of the World Economic Forum, our country has fallen to 32nd place, against 16th in 2016. The gender gap, the difference between the sexes in the disadvantage of women, has grown in terms of economic participation, health and political influence.

In the area of education and learning, the Netherlands is doing very well: women have as many opportunities as men. In 2006 when the first list was released, the Netherlands was still 12th. Since then, it has fallen less in the Netherlands. In 2016 the Netherlands dropped from 13th to 16th place. The fact that the Netherlands is still at 32nd place is because of education. On the list of equality in income, the Netherlands is 82nd.

Minister

Minister of Education, Culture and Science Ingrid van Engelshoven commented on the report that there is work at store to counteract inequality. "It's good that education is equal to opportunities for men and women, but it's going wrong when entering the labour market," says Engelshoven. "It is true that there is still too much inequality in terms of income. And there is no good argument for thinking about it."

Iceland

Iceland, Norway and Finland are the top three on the list. Norway and Finland have changed since Finland was second place last year. The list has an unexpected number four, namely Rwanda. In Iceland, the ranking is a national pride, according to the World Economic Forum. The key to their success is that there is political will and there are plans to achieve equality.

Linda is a big mind. She thinks about things that the rest normally overlook. The insight she has about the dutch job market can only be achieved through years of experience and persistence.

Her business savvy is complemented by her mastery of understanding the client's needs and requirements. For my career I could say, she was the “Mary Poppins”, who guided me through thick and thin and helped me to land a career in the Netherlands
