Jobs in Amsterdam

This is probably not the first article that you have read that attempts to portray a country as a great place to live and build a career, and it won't be the last. But, without doubt, choosing to establish the next step of your international Job in Amsterdam could be one of the best choices that you make in your life. This is a bold statement we know, and we can back it up, and justify exactly why a Job in Amsterdam is so special.

Well, the first reason that we think a Job in Amsterdam is such a great option for you is that the Netherlands has some of the best living conditions in the world. Yes, Amsterdam ranked second place in the entire world in the the prestigious Economist Intelligence Unit Best City Rankings 2012. The criteria that were considered were: Healthcare, Stability, Culture and Environment, Education and Infrastructure. On average we spend two thirds of our waking lives working, so it makes sense to work somewhere which is extremely liveable and a career in the Netherlands will help you to achieve just that.

It cannot be overlooked that many of you come to Europe from outside to use it as a base to travel around and visit other countries in Europe. If tourism/travel is important to you, then establishing your Job in Amsterdam is the right thing for you to do. Why? Because it is situated in northern central Europe and has good travel connections to all the major European tourist destinations.

An important feature of the Dutch economic environment is that for the past couple of years, the Netherlands has had one of the lowest levels of unemployment in the euro-zone (around 5%) and much lower than the euro-zone unemployment average (around 11%). This means that, assuming you have the skills, it will be much easier to find a job or a promotion in the Netherlands than many other euro zone countries which is another great reason for establishing a Job in Amsterdam .

As well as this, if you meet certain criteria, the Dutch government offers a generous tax allowance to expatriates coming to establish their career in the Netherlands which shows that the Netherlands is especially welcoming of expatriates. Few other countries offer this kind of perk.

And on to the working environment. The Global Engagement Index shows that staff in the Netherlands have above average levels of job satisfaction, so a Job in Amsterdam will mean that you are working in companies where employees are more engaged and generally happier than in many other countries in Europe.

And finally, The Netherlands is a relatively large economy which means that all the major corporate players exist in the Netherlands such as Microsoft, eBay, Mars, Nokia to name a few, so there are plenty of organizations and career opportunities which means you will be able to establish a long and upwardly mobile career in the Netherlands should you wish.

Convinced of how the great the Netherlands is as a place to work and live? We hope so, and we look forward to welcoming you into the Netherlands for a job in Amsterdam soon!

Linda is a big mind. She thinks about things that the rest normally overlook. The insight she has about the dutch job market can only be achieved through years of experience and persistence.

Her business savvy is complemented by her mastery of understanding the client's needs and requirements. For my career I could say, she was the “Mary Poppins”, who guided me through thick and thin and helped me to land a career in the Netherlands
