Emerald Kalama Chemical LLC, a division of Ohio-based chemical company Emerald Performance Materials LLC, is building a site to manufacture environmentally friendly materials at its plant in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

The new site is due to become operational in the third quarter of 2012 and will be located at the plant Emerald acquired from DSM NV in 2010.

“With the acquisition of the Rotterdam facility, expansion in Europe is a logical choice for us,” said Edward Gotch, President of Emerald Kalama.

“Such expansion enables us both to address the market’s needs and to capitalize on our ability to integrate the new operation with other key feedstocks manufactured at the Rotterdam site and add capacity as needed to support growth.”
