The project, developed by property developers Rotterdam OVG, has won the prize for the so-called Ravel P-15 plot on Beethovenstraat.
The basis of the complex is fairly traditional – overlooking office space on top of a selection of apartments. “The properties have large windows, with beautiful views and large balconies with lots of vegetation,” says architect Winy Maas from MVRDV.
Complex 'Goed Genoeg'
How many apartments and square meters of office space available will ultimately be determined later. The total complex will consist of between 50 thousand and 75 thousand square meters and rising up one hundred meters. Roughly sixty percent of the total surface area will consist of apartments. There will also be plenty of public space on the ground floor and around the building.
Besides ABN Amro, the complex will also have the sport complex 'Goed Genoeg' – home of the Amsterdam Football Club – as neighbours. The fields on the side of the Boelelaan for the sport complex will be cultivated.
Market Hall
MVRDV is one of the leading architect bureaus of The Netherlands. It has provided concept plans for the Dutch pavilion for Expo 2000 as well as designing the new Market Hall 'Markthal' in Rotterdam. In Amsterdam the bureau also held the responsibility of expanding VUmc on Amstelveenseweg and the apartments Silodam in the IJ.
OVG was previously in responsible for the Zuidas, for the home of auditors Deloitte and the law firm AKD.
