Demand for staff has increased by 18% in the second quarter of this year compared to the previous quarter. Especially the vacancies in the field of transport have risen sharply. And computer programming is still the most sought after profession. This was reported by Matchcare in its Labour Report 2016 Quartile2.
Five notable facts from the report:
1. All provinces in the last quarter showed an increase, the most in the Drenthe province (+28%). Demand in Zeeland (+10%) and Utrecht (+12%) are growing moderately. For the first time Noord Holland has the most jobs (instead of Zuid-Holland).
2. Of all job vacancies advertised online, 31% come directly from employers. 69% of all vacancies are thus by temporary employment or recruitment agencies, or intermediaries offered.
3. The most wanted job is a software developer (growth compared to Quartile 1 at +13%). Yet ICT is the least increased of the top five fields. (Production is the largest increase compared to the previous quarter).
4. Most notable is that more jobs were created on lower and elementary level. Compared with a year ago, the demand for lower-skilled workers (relatively) has increased the most.
5. On MBO level, most new vacancies were in administration and customer service. At HBO level, this is the case within ICT.
