A recent study has shown that within organizations the right freelancer is not always hired for the correct job. This is mainly due to little input and influence from the HR team during the selection of the freelancer.
That is at least a quarter (26 percent) of ZZP (zelfstandig zonder personeel), according to the research on 617 freelancers, done by Fast Flex. Two-thirds of freelancers in practice encounter that job descriptions do not match the reality. In addition, 58 percent noted that no account is taken of the corporate culture and often times the freelancer is matched correctly to the employer. Half the freelancers said that a mismatch leads to poor work performance.
Typical tasks that HR specialises in, such as matching of hard skills and soft skills, providing good job descriptions and finding the most suitable match between candidate and the company, are barely mentioned when it comes to the hiring of freelancers. In practice procurement staff often take that task on themselves and focus primarily on hourly rate and hard skills.
