In The Netherlands, often the average hours worked per week is higher than the global average. Most Dutch workaholics work eight to twelve hours a week extra. This equates to an additional workday per week, according to research undertaken by Regus.

The average number of hours worked overtime is at seven hours per week globally, in which the most overtime in on Monday. In the Netherlands, 26 percent of employees work overtime on Tuesday or Thursday. On Friday, the least extra hours are made.

In The Netherlands we're used to working over these limits. Only 13 percent of respondents work one hour or less per week. More than half of the Dutch, 58 percent, provide at least six extra hours on top of their contract. This group work much as 16 percent more than fifteen hours extra per week.

Jessika van Veen, CEO Regus Netherlands: "It is admirable that Dutch employees are so involved in their work, but at the same time it is also worrying that they make weekly overtime. When employees have the opportunity to work closer to home, they can benefit from shorter travel times and more efficient use of their time. Long working hours and then a long drive home can be bad for your health. Regus helps companies to flexible workplaces so as to compensate include overtime and minimizing a long journey."
