The investment made in research and development by chemical and biotechnical company DSM is a strong impulse for the Dutch knowledge economy. The investment of one hundred million euro will yield hundreds of extra jobs.
World’s Best
‘This causes the Netherlands to remain high in global ranking when it comes to agro food, chemical industry and energy’, according to the minister Verhagen of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation. DSM’s decision shows that the Netherlands is the place for innovative business.
Tax Reduction for Innovative Businesses
DSM profits from the investment because of the tax reduction for innovating businesses at the top sectors of the Dutch economy introduced by the government. Both investments in research facilities and the costs for scientists are partly tax deductable.
Test Factory
DSM is building a laboratory for biotechnical research in Delft and the test factory for biotechnical processes will be expanded. A new laboratory for research and development of materials will be built in Sittard-Geleen. Global research for the DSM group will be performed in these laboratories. The enterprise is active in the field of healthcare, nutrition, and produce in 49 countries.
Supercharger for Investments
‘Enlarging the DSM research facilities will not only yield more jobs and more income, it will also act as a supercharger for investments from other smaller and larger innovating businesses’, according to minister Verhagen. ‘It will strengthen the top sectors of our economy’.
