In the presence of King Willem-Alexander, Minister Ploumen signs the first cooperation agreement with Italy. The Netherlands will also be working with other European countries to get more women in top positions in business.
Topvrouwen.nl is a foundation that aims to get more women at top positions in business. This meeting is scheduled to take place annually. “Italy is doing better than the Netherlands when it comes to female top executives in business,” says the foundation.
On Friday September 1st 2017, it was realised that the number of women in the board of listed companies in the Netherlands decreased during the past year to 6.2%. The Supervisory Board, now has an average of 24.6%. Topvrouwen.nl operates a database of highly qualified women who are ready to take on an additional management functions. The Cabinet and employers attempt to place women at 30% of the top positions in business.
Traditional
The President of Topvrouwen.nl , Marry de Gaay Fortman, is concerned. “It's way too slow, so the Netherlands looks very traditional abroad. If the number of appointments essentially does not go up, there is a form of coercion.”
In the coming years, the Netherlands will be working with more European countries, in order to understand what measures are more effective to get additional women in the top of business positions. In Italy, a successful quota system has been introduced.
It is the objective that the Dutch database of suitable women would be a model to emulate in other European countries.
Speed Dates
The organization frequently organizes speed dates between women and recruitment agencies. According to Topvrouwen.nl foundation, dozens of nominations have arisen. Topvrouwen.nl has over 1350 profiles in their files. King Willem-Alexander was also invited to attend the signing of the European Agreement. The key to more women at the top is Topvrouwen.nl .
