Recruitment Technology provider Jobvite analyzed 10 million applications from 50 million job seekers. The main conclusion was, that 11% of the visitors of company career site fill in online application. In 2014 there were an average 59 applicants per vacancy.
Out of 59 applicants on average seven (12%) are invited for an interview. On average 1.2 applicants get an offer. 88% of the candidates respond positively to that offer. In other words, in order to fill in the vacancy you will need the average of 536 website visitors. On average, a vacancy is open 43 days.
Differences
The above figures and percentages do vary per industry and company size. For example, smaller companies (up to 250 employees) will need 62 applicants per vacancy to fulfill them. They interview more candidates and are less likely to make an offer. Larger companies (over 2500 employees) receive fewer applicants per vacancy, interview fewer candidates, but they more often receive an offer. The recruitment process in these larger organizations seems to be slightly more effective.
Recruitment Channel
Jobvite has also looked at recruitment channels. Most applications come via job boards (43%) and career site (34%). However, most vacancies are filled through referrals (37%), followed by career site (22%) and employment sites (17%). If we look at the ratio of number of applicants / candidates hired, it turns out - no surprise - that internal candidates are most commonly get hired (18 times more effective than average), followed by referrals (5 times more effective). The career sites and job boards are actually less effective.
