
The Financieele Dagblad reports that according to a letter that Minister Henk Kamp of Economic Affairs sent to the House of Representatives (Tweede Kamer) on Monday 20 July 2015. Companies such as Uber and Airbnb have encountered opposition from higher-cost competitors, which complain about their unfair competition.
Kamp sees dated regulations as a hurdle for innovative companies to grow. “If we in the Netherlands want to profit first from the advantages of innovation, then we need to make room for it in our legislation”, Kamp said in a statement. In the near term, ministers will determine how influential current regulations are for new business models, he said.
