These figures were revealed by CBS on Monday 01 June 2015, and give an insight into its joint publication with the TNO, ‘Dynamiek op de Nederlandse Arbeidsmarkt: De focus flexibilisering’ („Dynamics in the Dutch Labour Market: Focus on flexibility“).
In this sense, the Netherlands has moved up to third place in the EU, just behind Spain and Portugal. However, there are significant regional differences in terms of flexible employment, which are linked to the degree of urbanization: the number of flexible workers is the greatest in big cities.
Another trend is shown in the percentage of workers with two or more jobs, which climbed from 6% to 8%. Those combine multiple jobs due to personal reasons tend to be more satisfied and keen than workers with one job, says CBS. By contrast, people who combine jobs for reasons of sheer economic necessity tend to be less satisfied, less avid and show burnout symptoms more often than employees with one job.
